Bayer’s Trasylol raises death rate, study finds
Bayer AG’s Trasylol, withdrawn from the market in November, has a 53 percent higher risk of death compared to other drugs used to reduce bleeding in high-risk heart surgery, according to long-awaited study published on Wednesday.
A commentary accompanying the study, released online by the New England Journal of Medicine, said the drug was unlikely to be returned to the market. (Reporting by Gene Emery; Editing by Maggie Fox and Tim Dobbyn)
